Hex describes the cut of the plate, rather than its character finish. Angled ends give the plate a different outline from a rectangular oblong. All eight character types are available: printed, 3D gel, 4D acrylic, 4D gel, diamond bevel, shadow, ghost and negative.
Choose your finish below to open the customiser with Hex selected. Standard Hex, Short Hex and Lambo Shaped are separate choices in the builder; compare the available format with the recess and mounting points on your own vehicle.
Our hex options do not offer flags or borders. The builder limits these extras to the selected format. For road use, the finished plate still needs a compliant registration layout, reflective face, character finish and required markings.
Questions about hex number plates
Are hex plates and 4D plates the same thing?
No. Hex is a plate shape; 4D is a raised acrylic character finish. You can combine a hex shape with all eight character finishes, including diamond bevel, shadow and ghost where the configuration is compatible.
Can I choose a short hex plate?
Yes. Open a finish below and select Short Hex in the format choices. The layout must suit your registration and retain the required spacing and margins for road use.
Do hex plates come with flags or a border?
Our Hex and Short Hex formats do not support flags or borders. The customiser shows only the options supported by your chosen shape.
Are hex number plates legal in the UK?
The shape alone does not establish road legality. The finished plate must meet all applicable requirements. Choose a compliant road-legal configuration; display-only options are not suitable for road use.

We make plates in Dunlop, East Ayrshire, near Kilmarnock. Choose UK delivery or arrange collection. Production and dispatch depend on order approval and availability.
